The Temple of the Living God

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Ephesians 2:19-22

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Paul reminds us that we are the temple of the living God. This profound truth should shape how we view ourselves and how we live. God doesn't just visit us occasionally; He dwells within us. Our bodies and lives are sacred spaces where the Holy Spirit resides.

Reflect on what it means to be God's temple. How does this truth change the way you treat your body, mind, and spirit? Consider areas in your life where you might be defiling God's temple through unhealthy habits, negative thoughts, or sinful behaviors.

Commit to honoring God with your whole being. This might mean making changes to your diet, exercise routine, thought patterns, or daily habits. Remember, you were bought at a price, and your life is meant to glorify God.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for making me Your temple. Help me to honor You in every aspect of my life. Cleanse me from anything that doesn't belong in Your holy temple. Amen.
